We spent the whole day yesterday exploring the adorable sea town of Rockport, Massachusetts. It has a lovely little artist’s colony that was made famous by Rudyard Kipling’s book, “Captains Courageous”… which was also made into one of Mummy’s very favorite old movies!!! If you haven’t seen it, try and find the old black and white version with Spencer Tracy, Freddie Bartholomew, Lionel Barrymore and Mickey Rooney. You will love it! Our first stop was at a little shop called “KATIE’S GIFT SHOP” and OF COURSE, Katie yet again claimed it was HER SHOP… it is NOT. After buying a little yorkie planter, THE REAL KATIE, who owns the shop, came outside to meet all of us. She was sooooo nice and is a doggie lover herself. She has lots of doggie items in her shop, so if you find yourself in Rockport, stop in and say hello to her… and tell her that Millie sent you! ??
We wandered down the sidewalk, buying chocolates for Mummy and Daddy at a local candy shop and then stopping to take in the sights around the bay. It didn’t take long before we found “ROY MOORE” who sells fresh lobster! YUMMY YUMMY IN OUR FAT TUMMIES! They had an outdoor patio at the back of the shop and were very doggie friendly, so we decided to stop there for some fresh whole lobsters with melted butter! They had their own lobster tanks and cooked your lobster up fresh as you ordered it. WOWZA, I mean this was some mighty fine tasting lobster. They call it “lobsta” up here, but whatever… Mummy and Daddy couldn’t stop eating it! And YES, we all got a little taste of LOBSTA too!!! ???? I think I could learn to love living here in Rockport. Make sure to stop here for dinner on your next visit to the area… you won’t be sorry! ?❤️?
We were getting tired so Mummy said it was time to head back to the YORKIE EXPRESS, but as we drove down the road, we passed a HUGE SHARK hanging outside a shop. Daddy pulled in closer so we could read the posted sign. It was an EXACT REPLICA of a GREAT WHITE SHARK that had been caught off the shores of Salisbury Beach in 1957. It weighed 4,019 pounds and had taken 5 hours to haul in! I’m not sure if this is REALLY TRUE OR NOT, but I’m not taking any chances! ???
All in all, it was a perfect day with nice cool temperatures. Maybe the heat wave is finally behind us! YIPPPEEE. ?
