.
Mummy and Daddy returned to Newport, Rhode Island yesterday to finish up the remaining “cottages” they still needed to tour. We were left behind at the YORKIE EXPRESS because we were NOT WELCOME at any of the “cottages” on the tour. Before Mummy left I asked her to do a little investigating and find out whether the previous owners were dog-lovers or WHAT?!?!?! And here is the PROOF! They had lots of photos taken of themselves with their beloved DOGGIES and several OIL PAINTINGS TOO! The little black papillon in the top picture was named “Hippodale” and his Mummy’s friend painted this portrait of him when he was 6 years old for a Christmas gift! The little miniature bergere chair was CUSTOM MADE FOR HIM to keep in their apartment in Paris… OH MY GOSH!!! (Mummy really WANTED THAT LITTLE CHAIR!!!) One of the “cottages” had a tiny little pet cemetery with marble headstones next to a rose garden, and one of them was engraved with the name “Hercules.” Soooo sad! SEE…. THEY DID LOVE DOGGIES!!!! It’s the dumb historical society people who are making these crazy anti-dog rules!!!! At least we can rest better knowing that doggies once ran thru those magnificent marble halls… and pee pee’d on the oriental rugs… and maybe even pooped in the corner of the dining room when someone forgot to take them outside… and we know that happy little doggies, who were loved and spoiled, lived in those grand homes, so now we are happy! ?❤️?
Oh good im happy to to know they loved furbabys too,u have to b heartless not too love sweet furbabys,,its sad people dont let little furbabys to run the halls bring life back into those mansions,, as once they was filled with love and ,kissess and hugs those pets made those big mansions a home kiss kiss girls love u all,sad the little grave, but shows love ,they cared too
We are happy to know that these grand homes were once filled with the barks of happy doggies! ?❤️?
Im so happy tooo ,??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
?❤️??
So Glad you were able to get the Real story on the Furbabies of that place. Those Historical Society people are such snobs. It’s a Shame. They don’t know what they are missing out on. You girls are very well behaved and would not have hurt their precious house. Loving Hugs
Well-behaved doggies should be allowed in certain places. Just sayin.
So glad that was proven! A house, cottage, castle, airstream just isn’t home till little doggies live in them!
I am too! I love thinking of doggies running all over those grand homes and being so spoiled. ?❤️?
Yes that is really nice to know, that the original people knew the joys of having precious doggies in their homes. ❤
Yes… I am glad to know they were once doggie-friendly homes! ❤️??
So nice to know that the owners loved doggies, little Millie!!!?
??❤️?
Millie and Crew I know you would look beautiful on the chair. Too bad they couldn’t gift it to you. But it is nice there were loved doggies in the homes. So glad you are having fun. I think of our visit in Arcata, CA often. Hugs and pooch smooches
We hope to get back to California one day because Mummy really LOVED THE COASTLINE there!!! And she REALLY DID want that little bergere chair!!!!
Oh, those darned “Historical Society” people. They clearly don’t know you girls like we do. The height of manners and grace. So happy that you are having a great time on vacation !
I KNOW…. RIGHT!?!?!?!?! We could have shown all of the visitors how the little DOGGIES onced lived in the homes… given them a glimpse of DOGGIE LIFE in the GOLDEN AGE! ?❤️??
Starting to wonder if dogs were more “respected” back in those days than they are now. A house is not a home without some pee-pee sprinkled carpets and flying hair balls!!! Hahaha…Wish Mummy could get you that little chair though.
I bet thatyou could take your little doggie anywhere back then! The government stayed OUT of all THAT kind of stuff.
Aww I am glad that you now know that little doggies once ran through these cottages
Well behaved doggies should always be allowed in my opinion. Hugs to all
?❤️??
Those darn rules that people put in place..☹️ The folks that lived there did indeed love their doggies and spoiled them. I think you girls need chairs like that.?❤️?
Mummy REALLY wanted that chair! She has a teeny tiny Chippendale chair in our living room but it wasn’t CUSTOM MADE and not nearly as cute!!!
It’s a happy, loving home that has fur babies running around! I love the little chair, it’s adorable! I’m sorry you all didn’t get to take the tours!! Love and kisses!!
We are happy just knowing that at least doggies DID LIVE THERE at one time! ?????
When I visited Newport a few years ago I did see some of these little “cottages”. I am so glad there were loving owners of sweet doggies that had lived there. Yes doggies should be allowed to visit when they are as well behaved as you Millie. You are a world traveler and very experienced in having good manners.
At least we know the smell of doggies exisys in these homes! ????
NO TURTLE PICTURES IN THE ‘COTTAGES’. WHAT A SHAME.
Noone was pictured holding a turtle!!!! I am sorry… Mummy even looked!!! But she FID find a GORGEOUS FOUNTAIN with turtles that spewed out water. She will email you the picture. You will want to have a duplicate made ASAP!!!!! ????
So happy to know they did love their doggies just like your Mommy and Daddy love you! ????❤️
Yes… that made her happy to know at least doggies were filling the houses with love way back then! ?❤️?
Well I don’t understand why doggies in strollers aren’t allowed it’s not like you’d even touch their precious cottage stuff anyway! I bet KIDS are allowed! Doesn’t seem fair if you ask me! ohhhhhh you so needed that little chair! HOW ADORABLE!!! I can see you sitting in it now! You’d have to share with your sisters! LOL
Well, in their defense, NO STROLLERS were allowed in any of the homes… not even for babies! The parents had to CARRY THEIR KIDS… lololol. So… there’s that. But… Mummy DID want that little chair! ???
BEAUTIFUL STORY YOU HAVE TOLD. I LOVE IT. GLAD THEY LOVED DOGS ALSO. I SURE DO. SOME THINGS ARE SO VERY BEAUTIFUL IN LIFE. SO GLAD I GOT TO SEE THINGS W/YOUR HELP. SO ENJOY YOUR WORDS. I TRULY DO.
BE SAFE. TAKE CARE…. PETS FOR YOUR BABY’S…
Thank you so much for following along on our vacation this summer. We are happy that you are enjoying the posts about the things we are seeing. ??
It sounds like Mummy is an awesome investigator! ?❤
She is pretty good about getting to the bottom of things! ????
How cool that the residents loved dogs. That picture looks real cool also.
I love knowing that they loved doggies even way back then!
Millie
I’m so glad mommy and daddy found out about the doggies that reside in the beautiful house.
As the saying goes.
The house is not a home without a precious fur baby.
That is what we think too. ??
Good Morning Millie…I hope where ever you and your family go today that you and your sisters can go. I think that little doggies should be able to go anyplace. At least you know that years ago doggies lived there. Have a fun and safe day.
I bet those doggies had a very exciting life in those grand homes! I guesss they allhad home-cooked meals back then too!
Awwww his own chair! I didn’t see that while i was there! So nice ro know those rich people still had excellent taste in companions!
Yes… we were glad to see that the doggies that lived there were very pampered! ??
Sweetie, you know that they loved doggies. Maybe, the Historical Society is worried about your safety. So glad that Mommy got the proof. We love the chair also. Thank you for sharing your pictures.
It did get a little congested in some of the hallways with so many people touring the homes… so perhaps it IS just a safety issue!
Not all doggies are as special and well behaved as you girls – that is problem why they have those rules. However, it is good to know they had doggies —I do not know what I would do without my Wilson.??❤️
That’s true… it’s hard to know how lots of doggies will act when they get together in a group so I guess they need to err on the side of caution.
Again, we are going backwards when it comes to honoring our best friends!! Let the doggies in!!
I DO WISH the USA was more accepting with doggies!!!
What such a cute & adorable story. I think that they should let you Yorkies tour!!
We would have really loved to RUN RUN RUN in some of those houses!!! WOW THEY ARE BIG!!!
I bet they were so spoiled! Running up and down and all over the place! I wonder if the maids/servents had to cook special meals for the furbabies??❤️???
I would think doggies all ate home-cooked meals back then… did they even have dog food companies???
Oh Millie, I KNEW it! At the turn of the (19th to 20th) century people LOVED little doggies!!! Everyone had some, really! It’s just the silly, silly 2019 historical societies that “prohibit” you special ones from touring these places. I wish I could change these ridiculous rules for you and your sisters, right?
We were just excited to see signs that doggies were so loved and spoiled even way back then! ?❤️?
Thank goodness the original owners clearly pet lovers have no idea the historical society would be snobs? Millie, do you girls have your own Royal chairs? Mummy must keep that in mind..hugs
Mummy does have a miniature Chippendale chair in our living room but it’s not nearly as cute as this little chair… but maybe we will have a closer look at it!!! Lol
