Mummy loves a good donut but she doesn’t really eat them all that often because she says they just have too many calories in them. BUT… once we got up here to New England she noticed that they seem to have A BIG THING FOR DONUTS, especially “Dunkin’ Donuts” but there is a kind called “Honey Dew” that she had never heard of! THEN we went to Provincetown today, or “P-town” as the locals call it, and they have a SPECIAL Portuguese donut called a malassada… so really, there was nothing left for her to do but have a TASTE TEST! She said she would “take one for the team” and cut back on something else tomorrow, or maybe the next day… but here are the results. She said, “You are welcome!” ??❤️??
1. HONEY DEW was very fluffy and yeasty in flavor. The glaze was not overly sweet. This was a VERY NICE DONUT! Mummy sort of preferred this donut because she likes a donut with a more yeast-forward taste but Dunkin’ Donuts was a very close second.
2. DUNKIN’ DONUTS was fluffy, but not as fluffy as the Honey Dew donut. The glaze was very sweet, but not overpowering. Daddy liked this one the best. You can find a Dunkin’ Donuts store on literally every single corner up here… they are EVERYWHERE! ??? It is AMAZING! Sometimes there are TWO across the street from each other, I MEAN REALLY! HOW MANY DONUTS DO THESE PEOPLE UP HERE EAT?!?!?!
3. PROVINCETOWN PORTUGUESE BAKERY is a fried circle of dough called a malassada, which is then dredged in cinnamon-sugar. It was delicious and tasted just like a funnel cake. It is nothing like the donuts that we think of, but it is the Portuguese donut. Mummy did NOT throw it away. She and Daddy happily ate every bit of it… for the sake of the research project.
Mummy hopes that her hard work today has been helpful to you. Tomorrow she will walk a few laps around the campsite and perhaps starve herself… until maybe noon, when she will start looking for her next LOBSTER ROLL! ?????
