WHEW! Yesterday was ONE LONG DAY… and it was a hair-raising experience too! Daddy is a thrill seeker when it comes to doing outdoor stuff, and Mummy… not so much. Although she did almost kill herself on Robert Redford’s zipline up in Utah… but that’s another story!!! ??? Here in New Hampshire there just happens to be located the tallest mountain in the Northeast, at 6,288 feet… Mount Washington. Some of the most severe weather is known to frequent this area! People flock to this mountain in order to claim bragging rights for reaching the summit in various ways… but one of the most popular is by DRIVING your car up this VERY NARROW, extremely dangerous (no sane person should do this, in Mummy’s opinion!!!! This is ludicrous!) 2-lane, windy road that has NO GUARD RAILS and the road just absolutely drops off the side of the mountain. The speed limit is about 15mph but even THAT felt TOO FAST when another car came towards you and you both tried to squeeze past each other without knocking someone off the mountain!!! ??? It took about 30-minutes to reach the top and the temperature went from 74 degrees and no wind at the base of the mountain to 56 degrees and VERY WINDY at the top! By the time we got to the summit, Mummy had a splitting headache and was tempted to PAY EXTRA to take the “COG” back down… but they don’t allow doggies and she didn’t want to leave us with Daddy!!! Oh… they CHARGE YOU to drive up this mountain… $31 per automobile and $9 for each additional person in the car!!! Mummy took us out of the truck, from the safety of our SleepyPods, and got a quick picture to prove that we actually made it to the top. Don’t worry… Daddy is holding our leashes off to the side and we are actually standing on an upper parking level, so below us is just another parking level down a rocky slope… not the other side of the mountain!!! But Mummy and Daddy were holding us tight and only took us out for the picture because it was really cold and windy up at the top! Mummy begged Daddy to PLEASE GO BACK DOWN so we began the slow trip back. It wasn’t quite as bad as going up because most of the time we were AGAINST the mountain face and not hanging over the edge! When it was over, Mummy bought patches for us and said that she will make us matching harnesses! ?❤️???

.

After getting safely off Mount Washington we had one last mission… TO SEE A MOOSE! We headed over to the White Mountain National Forest where the Kancamagus Highway is located. It is a 26.5-mile scenic byway, that climbs to almost 3,000 feet, with twists and turns that take you past waterfalls and backcountry lakes and little bogs where moose love to hang out! We were told that moose are EVERYWHERE over there. The Appalachian Trail is over there too but we didn’t have plans to hike today… we really just wanted to see a MOOSE!!! There were SIGNS EVERYWHERE warning us about the DANGERS of MOOSE crossing onto the road, so Mummy had her camera ready to take a picture. READY. READY. STILL READY. -sigh- STILL READY. -getting bored- STILL READY. We saw lots of FAKE MOOSE outside of gift shops. -sigh- It was getting dark… this is the best time to see them. Mummy was super charged now… her camera was up and ready. -sigh- Not even a DANG SQUIRREL crossed the road. Now it was pitch black dark outside and we really needed to get back to our campsite because we had to leave this morning. Mummy was really sad. We did not see one moose. Not one animal of any kind. Mummy said she doesn’t even think animals LIVE in New Hampshire… AT ALL!!! She started off looking like this ? and now she looks like this ☹️ all because of the no-show MOOSE. AND… Daddy gave her a headache by stressing her out on that death-defying mountain drive.

.

Today, we are making a detour to a special candy store that makes these cute little “chocolate mice” that Mummy read about. She said that is the ONLY THING that will make her feel better! ??❤️ I sure hope that we can find this place… wish us luck!!! ?

We just stopped for donuts at CIDER BELLIES which is FAMOUS for their apple cider donuts and now Mummy is smiling again! It doesn’t take much to make her happy. We are looking for the “chocolate mice “next! ?

You all never ceases to amaze me with you travels. Such fun. My mother and I saw a moose crossing the road on our way up to Baudette, Minnesota. That was after I graduated from high school. A very long time ago. And no. I’m not an old fart. I’ve aged like a great bottle of wine. ??

Mummy has taken over 2,000 pictures so she needs to go thru them and get rid of the bad ones and keep only the good ones. A book would be cute but WOW that would be a lot of work! Lololol

I wish I had someone like your Daddy to drive me all these fun places. Mummy was very calm sounding in the video. At least she is not a backseat driver like some in my family. Lol. I so want to do this when I retire next year. I’ve got Coco my little yorkie a medium size Sleepypod hot pink in color and she’s ready to go. I remember that funvideo from your trip out west where Daddy and Mummy were riding those sand dunes or some kind of dunes and in that video Mummy wasn’t too happy. Live your… Read more »

MY MISTRESS SAID THAT YOUR MISTRESS WOULD REALLY BE STRESSED OUT IN SWITZERLAND BECAUSE MANY OF THE ROADS IN THAT COUNTRY ARE LIKE THE ONE YOU DROVE ON UP TO MT. WASHINGTON. TOUR BUSES, CARS AND TRUCKS ALL SHARE THOSE SWISS ROADS.

MAY THE REST OF YOUR TRIP BE SAFE AND FUN.

It was really scary to drive up!!! You can take this tram-like thing called THE COG but it still chugs on a track straight up the mountain but I think it would be SAFER than DRIVING!!!

Please tell your mummy Millie that I’m very impressed she made it to the top! Years ago my hubby and I along with our human children and fur children decided to go up that very scary mountain road. I just couldn’t take it anymore sweet Millie, I told my hubby to turn around, however there was No Place to turn. We finally found a little area and my hubby made a turn to go back down. Wow! I was so scared. Lol. I told my hubby I would never again try to attempt to go up that road. My human… Read more »

OH LORD HAVE MERCY you deserve a medal!!!! Daddy got out of the truck and walked all around at the top but Mummy stayed in the truck with us… it was soooo windy she thought she would be blown off. Daddy told her to go over to the other side where THE COG was located and she said NO… she was about to cry and said her head was about to split open from her headache and she was DONE with this MOUNTAIN DREAM of his and wanted to GO DOWN NOW! ???

Back in the mid 70’s, for my 21st birthday, my grandmother and I took a bus trip to New England. One of the stops was at the mountain. Because we were with a bus group, we had the opportunity to take a guided drive up the mountain in a JEEP – I loved it – the driver was so cute and funny – he kinda kept an eye on me since I was the youngest on the trip. Loved it, except we had lots of wind and SNOW when we got to the top. I’m so glad you made it… Read more »

There is NO WAY I’d survive that trip! I get extreme motion sickness and winding roads make me sick! We used to go swimming and camping at a place called Cowan’s Gap and you had to drive up a mountain to get there on a winding road and every single time I was sick! UGH! nope I couldn’t have done it! awwwwww that’s a shame you didn’t see a Moose! I’d have wanted to see one too! Obviously they didn’t know it was you visiting Millie or they’d have come out to see you!

You would have had to knock me in the head with a hammer or totally sedate me to go up that mountain. I think a little bargaining with daddy is in order…like another Paris excursion. Oh, geeze, a bottle of spirits once you got to the bottom for sure. My heart would have stopped.
