Mummy made Katie these really yummy snacks for her 11th birthday last week… now if we can only get her to SHARE some of them we can ALL CELEBRATE HER BIG DAY!  They are super easy to make and you can get fancy if you want by rolling out the dough and cutting it into little shapes, or just cutting long strips and then making tiny “bits” like she did.  Since there are no preservatives in these, just make sure to put the baked and cooled snacks into a little container and store them in the refrigerator.  They should keep for a few weeks but I doubt they will last that long.  I hope that you enjoy them.  KISS KISS

.

BEEFY BITS

.

2 3/4 cups whole wheat flour

2 cups oat bran

1 Tablespoon dried parsley

1 cup cottage cheese (yes, doggies who are NOT lactose intolerant CAN have cottage cheese!)

1 small jar pureed beef flavor baby food

1/2 cup water

.

In a medium sized bowl, combine your dry ingredients.  Add the cottage cheese, baby food and water and mix with a large spoon until well combined.  You do not need a mixer for this… this is really EASY TO MAKE!  Dump onto a floured surface (use some of the whole wheat flour) and pat out the dough until it is about 1/4-inch thick.  No need to drag out a rolling pin… this is supposed to be EASY, like we said.  Cut the dough into strips and then cut the strips into little squares.  Place the squares onto a SILPAT-lined or parchment covered baking sheet so the little things won’t burn.  You can put them close together because they will not spread.  Bake at 350 degrees for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.  Cool on a wire rack.  Store in a container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

BONE APPETIT!

Happy Birthday Katie! Leetl LuLoo has one question. Can you tell us how “hard” these are after they are baked ?

Lulu, they are not very hard. Even though you bake them until golden brown you can still sort of press into them ever so slightly… unless of course you over-bake them!!! LOL
