7-Up Biscuits and Sausage Gravy

By February 13, 2016No Comments

This is about as SOUTHERN as it gets…and super easy too!  When you need something quick for guests or family…I’ve got your breakfast right here!  I tried to use “no-fat” or “low-fat” ingredients where I could…but you can go ALL OUT if you so desire.  My results were excellent and I didn’t miss the extra fat one bit!!!

.

7-UP BISCUITS

.

2 cups Bisquick

1/2 cup sour cream (I used no fat)

1/2 cup 7-Up (I used diet)

1/2 stick butter, melted

.

Pour all ingredients into a large bowl and mix by hand…no need to drag out the mixer for this.  Drop by big blobs onto a greased baking sheet or use a SILPAT mat, which I LOVE and use all the time.  I sell them in my on-line BOUTIQUE if you need one quick.  Bake in a preheated 425 degree oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

.

.

SAUSAGE GRAVY

.

9 ounce package turkey sausage crumbles (this really speeds things up and also cuts down on the mess in the kitchen!)

1/2 cup water

1/4 cup flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups skim milk (you can use whole milk for a thicker gravy but I used skim to cut back a little on the calories)

.

Saute the turkey crumbles in a large skillet with the water until boiling.  Sprinkle flour over the top and stir.  Add salt and milk and stir it all together….simmering until thickened and well-combined.  Pour over your biscuits.  Store any leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator and reheat in microwave.

.

BONE APPETIT!
